My Daily "Gratitude" Practice:
This is my practice of Gratitude that I practice on a daily basis, and is truly one of the most beautiful experiences I enjoy as an integral part of my journey in life, and I welcome you to practice this as well if you wish.
I actually practice this in one form or another many times throughout my day, starting as part of my "First Light of Consciousness" practice upon waking in the morning, and ending with my "Gratitude & Oneness Meditation" practice at the end of my day as I fall asleep. I also practice this at other times throughout the day as a stand alone practice and as part of my other yoga practices as well, such as my "Morning Meditations, Intentions & Affirmations" practice and my "Evening Reflection & Meditation" practice. In a way, my Gratitude practice is actually an "ongoing" practice, throughout my entire day - living with gratitude as I go along my journey in life.
I perform the "Gratitude" practice as follows:
1) Breathe naturally with mindful, heightened, conscious awareness.
2) Become fully present. Being fully present in "this" moment.
3) Being fully present with an open heart, identify that for which I feel most grateful for in this moment. (Please note, this may be one or more things, or possibly even a "stream" of things, and for myself, this is guided by whether I am performing this Gratitude practice "unbounded" as a stand-alone practice of Gratitude in and of itself, or in the process of performing this Gratitude practice "within" another yoga practice I might be performing, such as my "First Light of Consciousness" practice upon waking in the morning.)
4) Then breathe and "be with it". Fully experience it. See, feel, and be grateful in all its glory - feel it welling up inside, filling up my entire being, and overflowing into the infinite universe. (With my utmost sincerity, I would like to share with you that when I practice this, I surrender my entire being to the practice, my entire mind, body, heart, and spirit, unbounded in breadth and depth. It took some time and practice for me to be able to do this and fully experience it, and now I have come to find this as one of the most beautiful experiences in my entire life. And, when I practice this Gratitude practice as a stand alone practice, in and of itself, it's not uncommon for "spiritual tears" to well up in my eyes as the immense feeling of gratefulness wells up throughout my entire being. So, I want to share this with you along with words of encouragement to discern for your Self whether to take it step-by-step, in leaps, or jump all in, as it feels right for you and you choose. I trust you to discern what's best for you on your journey and what path you choose to travel, and I have the utmost respect for you. And, of course, I wish you the very, very, best.)
5) Then I let this practice run for whatever length of time feels right for the context in which I am performing the Gratitude practice. (For example, if I'm doing the Gratitude practice as a stand alone practice in and of itself, I let it run for whatever length of time feels natural in the moment for that practice (typically on the order of a minute or two, and sometimes upwards toward three to four minutes, or even longer if it feels meaningful to do so, especially when "spiritual tears" are flowing. On the other hand, if I'm doing the Gratitude practice "within" another practice, such as my "First Light of Consciousness" practice upon waking in the morning, then I typically do the Gratitude practice on the order of 15 seconds to a minute or so.)
